JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 29, 2025) – Howard University women's track & field squad got underway on Day Two of the NCAA Outdoor East Regional with five Bison advancing to the quarterfinal round.
Graduate
Kailei Collins (Houston) headlined the rainy day, qualifying in two events. She posted an AQ time of 11.21 in the 100-meter dash, followed by a non-automatic qualifying mark in the 200-meter dash (23.43).
Saturday's (May 31) 100-meter dash quarterfinal starts at 6:35 p.m. More than an hour later (7:50 p.m.), the 200-meter dash quarterfinal race commence.
Junior
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.), graduate
Ariana Smith (Pennsville, N.J.) and rookie
Cenaiya Billups (Denver) each moved on to the 400-meter hurdles quarterfinal round, producing AQ times of 56.55 (personal best), 57.11 and 57.84 (personal best), respectively. Freshman
Lindsay Johnson (Detroit) also competed in the event but fell just short of making the next round despite a new personal best (58.73).
Saturday's 400-meter hurdles quarterfinal round begins at 7:25 p.m.
Graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) advanced to the 100-meter hurdles quarterfinal, posting an automatic qualifying time of 13.01. Johnson also ran in the race, coming up short despite another personal best (13.31).
Saturday's short hurdle (100-meter) quarterfinal round begins at 6:15 p.m.
Other noteworthy performance on the track included senior
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) running a personal best in the 800-meter race, clocking in at 2:04.60. Despite her efforts, the South Carolina product came up short of advancing to the next round.
In the field, graduate thrower
Erin Hatcher (Silver Spring, Md.) represented Bison Nation in the hammer, but fell short of moving on to Eugene.
Fellow classmate
Nneka Ezeama (Smithfield, R.I.) was set to compete in the shot put but was postponed due to inclement weather. The event resumes Friday (May 30) at 10 a.m.
