NORFOLK, Va. (May 15, 2025) – Howard University women's track & field squad excelled after Day One of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships, held at Dick Price Stadium in Norfolk, Va., hosted by Norfolk State University (NSU).
On the track, eight Bison advanced to Championship Saturday after successful races in the long hurdles (400-meter) and 200-meter dash.
Graduate
Ariana Smith (Pennsville, N.J.), junior
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.) and rookies
Cenaiya Billups (Denver) and
Lindsay Johnson (Detroit) each ran an automatic qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 57.89, 58.38, 59.40 and 59.50, respectively. Saturday's race is slated for 2:55 p.m.
In the 200-meter dash, junior
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.), graduate
Kailei Collins (Houston) and sophomore
Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) each made Saturday's final round with AQ marks of 23.66, 23.77 and 23.89, respectively. Second-year Bison
Mackenzie Robinson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) also reached Championship Saturday with a non-automatic qualifying time of 24.24. The final round begins at 3:15 p.m.
Senior
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) competed in one of two scoring team events, finishing fourth overall in the 10K run. The Louisiana product scored five points after running 39.44.20.
In the field, junior
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) recorded eight points after earning silver in the discus throw, tossing nearly 145 feet (44.09 meters).
Currently, the Bison sit in fifth place after two scoring events.
Illinois natives senior
Jasmyn Hunter (Flossmoor) and newcomer
Jasmen Walker (Flossmoor) begin Friday (May 16) with the women's heptathlon at 9 a.m., to finish their races.
Field events begin at 11:30 a.m., and running events to start at 2:50 p.m.
