WASHINGTON (May 11, 2025) – The NCAA Softball Committee revealed its 64-team field for the 2025 NCAA Division I Championship where Howard University drew the Durham Regional. The announcement came Sunday night during the NCAA Selection Show, live on ESPN2.
Friday (May 16), HU meets No. 14 Duke in Durham, N.C. First-pitch is slated for noon.
Saturday (May 10), Howard (31-18) clinched its third Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament Championship with a 6-1 win over South Carolina State.
After the tourney, graduate
Ameenah Ballenger (Lansdown, Pa.) was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player after recording her 12
th win of the season while
Tori Tyson was selected Most Outstanding Coach.
Duke (38-16) will host the four-team, double-elimination tournament inside Softball Stadium. Coastal Carolina (41-17) and Georgia (31-20) faceoff in the other matchup in Durham.
Regionals will be held May 16-18 and the 16 winning teams advance to the super regionals (May 22-25).
ESPN will provide coverage from all 16 regional sites on its platforms, which was announced during the NCAA Softball Selection Show.
