Five Bison Earn MEAC Tennis Postseason Accolades

Tennis recognized for its outstanding 2025 campaign

NORFOLK, Va. (April 23, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its men's and women's tennis all-conference teams and major awards where Howard University had five Bison recognized for their outstanding performances during the 2025 campaign. The announcement came during the league's annual awards ceremony Wednesday evening.

Freshman standout Kaosie Nwokedi (Charlotte, N.C.) highlighted the night, winning the illustrious MEAC Rookie of the Year award. Competing primarily in the No. 2 singles slot, he posted a 10-7 record with several notable nonconference victories. The North Carolina native became only the second Bison in program history to win the honor, joining Ismael Kaouache (2014), after earning the conference's Rookie of the Week four times and Player of the Week twice.

Seniors Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) and sophomores Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) and Michael Major Jr (Nassau, Bahamas) each made the All-MEAC Second Team.

Morgan State senior Mikeal Carpenter and South Carolina State senior Sofya Chursina were named MEAC Men's and Women's Players of the Year, respectively. Delaware State's Victoria Linkovski was selected as the league's Women's Rookie of the Year.

All voting was done by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.

Thursday (April 25), the 2025 MEAC Championships gets underway in Cary, N.C. Both squads square off against rival Morgan State. HU women start at 11 a.m., followed by the Bison men at 2 p.m.
