WASHINGTON (April 19, 2025) – Howard University women's track & field squad competed in a pair of annual meets, Tom Jones Invitational (April 18-19) and Morgan Legacy (April 18-19), grabbing four victories along the way.
TOM JONES INVITE
Graduate
Erin Hatcher (Silver Spring, Md.) highlighted the weekend, winning the hammer throw with a new conference benchmark (62.41 meters).
Another noteworthy performance in the field included junior
Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.) taking eighth place (12.47 meters) in the triple jump.
On the track, freshman
Cenaiya Billups (Denver) earned gold in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 58.13.
Graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) placed third overall in the short hurdles (100-meter), producing a 13.23 time.
Second-year Bison
Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) competed in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, finishing second (11.54) and eighth (23.57), respectively.
Juniors
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.) and
Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga.) represented Bison Nation in the 400-meter dash where they grabbed fifth (53.94) and eighth (54.19), respectively.
MORGAN LEGACY
On the track, junior
Lauren Thompson (Frisco, Texas) and sophomore
Nadia Jacobs (Chesapeake, Va.) secured first (14.13) and second (14.20), respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles.
Second-year Bison
Mackenzie Robinson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) earned a pair of silver medals in the 100-meter dash (11.94) and 200-meter dash (24.31).
Rookie
Brooke Cochran (Silver Spring, Md.) took second place in the 400-meter dash (55.28).
Sophomores
Sarah Seam (Gaithersburg, Md.) and
Orlaan Winston (Kent, Wash.) and freshmen
Ester Kirk (Morristown, N.J.) and
Kendall Robinson (Bowie, Md.) represented HU in the 4x400 relay, grabbing third with a 4:05.78 time.
Other notable performance on the track included newcomer
Mira Martin (Columbus, Ohio) taking third (19:33.59) in the 3K run.
In the field, junior
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) led the way with three top 3 finishes, including a victory in the hammer throw (48.21 meters). The Texas native also competed in the shot put and discus, placing second (14.33 meters) and third (43.57 meters), respectively.
Graduate
Nneka Ezeama (Smithfield, R.I.) took home bronze in the shot put, tossing 13.79 meters (45'3").
Another noteworthy performance in the field included sophomore
Leyanis Castillo (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) placing sixth overall (1.50 meters) in the high jump.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
