Women’s Track & Field Shines at the UCF Knights Invite

Bison compete in Orlando and Raleigh

ORLANDO, Fla. & RALEIGH, N.C. (March 28, 2026) – Howard University women's track & field team wrapped up the weekend with meets in Orlando, Fla. (UCF Knights Invite) and Raleigh, N.C. (Raleigh Relays).
 
UCF KNIGHTS INVITE
 
At the UCF Knights Invite (March 27-28), HU won a pair of relays.
 
Graduate Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) and juniors Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Yahnari Lyons (Hampton, Ga.) and Mackenzie Robinson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) represented Bison Nation in the 4x100 relay, winning the race with a 44.00 mark.
 
The 4x400 relay squad, consisting of seniors Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga.) and Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.) and sophomores Cenaiya Billups (Denver) and Lindsay Johnson (Detroit), capped off the event with a victory, clocking in at 3:34.18.
 
Individually, Lyons claimed bronze in the 200-meter dash with a 22.82 time.
 
Turner and Billups ran the 400-meter dash, earning fifth (54.01) and eighth (54.49), respectively.
 
Lyons, Robinson and rookie Nilijah Darden (Greensboro, N.C.) competed in the 100-meter dash where they finished second (11.18), sixth (11.47) and seventh (11.49), respectively.
 
Sey, Johnson, freshmen Gabby White (Silver Spring, Md.) and Carrie Vannoy (Oak Park, Mich.) and senior Lauren Thompson (Frisco, Texas) ran the 100-meter hurdles, earning second (13.06), fourth (13.38), fifth (13.47), sixth (13.65) and eighth (15.20), respectively.
 
Billups, Johnson, Woodruff and Vannoy took part in the long hurdles (400-meter), securing second (58.09), third (58.40), fourth (1:00.60) and fifth (1:00.63), respectively.
 
In the field, seniors Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) and Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) grabbed seventh, respectively, in the triple jump (12.13 meters) and shot put (14.25 meters).
  
RALEIGH RELAYS
 
Second-year Bison Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) earned eighth place in the 800-meter run with a 2:06.25 mark.
 
Rookie Sadie Sanders (Santa Rose, Calif.) competed in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 25.03.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On April 2-4, Howard is set to head down to Austin, Texas for the annual Texas Relays.
