WASHINGTON (April 12, 2025) – The Howard University softball team takes on Coppin State (CSU) in a MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) three-game series in Baltimore, beginning Sunday (April 13) with doubleheader at 1 P.M., followed by a seven-inning contest Monday (April 14) at 1 p.m.

HOWARD
HU (17-17, 11-1 MEAC) looks to extend its win streak while remaining atop of the conference standings.

Alyssa Vasquez (Eastvale, Calif.) was named MEAC Player of the Week after going 5-for-10 with four RBIs and three runs against Delaware State (DSU). Senior pitcher
Mia Gonzales (Atwater, Calif.) earned MEAC Pitcher of the Week after throwing a complete-game shutout. Freshman outfielder
Lauryn Jones (Denton, Texas) was named MEAC Rookie of the Week. She batted .778 with seven hits and four runs, including two three-hit games in Saturday's doubleheader.
COPPIN STATE
CSU (3-19, 3-9 MEAC) faced South Carolina State University (April 4-5), falling to the Bulldogs, 3-0.
LAST TIMEOUT
On April 5-6, Howard completed a season sweep versus DSU.
Vasquez came up big at the plate with multiple RBIs, including a three-run triple and an RBI double while also leading the team with 12 putouts. Gonzales dominated on the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts in game one, helping the Bison set the tone early in the series.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On April 18-19, Howard faces Morgan State (MSU) in a MEAC three-games series in D.C. Friday (April 18), HU takes on MSU in a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Saturday (April 19) at 12:30 p.m. on Senior Day.
