NORFOLK, Va. (March 3, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's basketball weekly honors where Howard University freshman standout
Saniyah King (Washington) secured the league's Rookie of the Week for the 11
th time this season. The announcement came Monday.
In two games, King averaged 10.0 points and 3.5 assists while guiding the Bison to a perfect 2-0 week. In Monday's road win at Coppin State (Feb. 24), the D.C. native registered 17 points, five assists and two steals.
Currently, King leads the MEAC in assists per game (4.7), which ranks 57
th in the country.
Graduate guard
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) and junior forward
Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) earned honorable mention for their efforts on the road at Coppin State and North Carolina Central.
Norfolk State guard Diamond Johnson was named MEAC Player and Defensive Player of the Week.
King, Howard host Johnson, Norfolk State in a big showdown Thursday (March 6) inside The Burr. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m., live on ESPNU.
