WASHINGTON (March 31, 2025) – Howard University women's golf team travels to Katy, Texas to defend their title at the Women in Golf National Collegiate. The two-day, 54- hole tournament will occur at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch (6,992 yards, par-71).
The opening rounds will start Tuesday (April 1) and the closing round will commence Wednesday (April 2), followed by the championship banquet. This event also includes a professional development day where the players get to play a round of golf with business professionals.

HISTORY
The Women in Golf Foundation, INC., hosts the annual National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship, inviting select women's college teams to participate and play. The winner receives the Renee Powell Cup trophy, honoring Renee Powell, a pioneer African American female professional golfer. The winning team is presented the trophy to display for the year they reign as champions.
Last year, the Women in Golf National Collegiate was also held at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas where Howard finished first overall.
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica) placed first in individual with two fellow Bison in the top four.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch is a public golf course located in Katy, Texas. The golf course was designed by Carlton Gipson in the early 1990s. The 18-hole course is 6,992 yards, par-71, with a 133 slope. This course is rated at 73.8, surrounded by an ocean of water and unique greens due to the unusually shaped bunkers.
This year's tournament participants include Howard, Alabama State University, Lincoln University (Mo.), Delaware State University, Paine College, Texas Southern University, Southern University, Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte, Prairie View A&M University, Chicago State University, Fisk University, Savannah State University and Edward Waters University.
LAST TIMEOUT
On March 17-18, the team finished 14
th at the Besty Rawls Invitational, which took place at the UT Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
Sophomore
Paris Fieldings (Chesapeake, Va.) led the Bison, finishing 50
th overall while shooting 24-over par (240).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The women's team is set to return to the DMV to compete in the Terps Invitational, presented by the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. (April 6-7).
