Softball Set to Host Cal and UCLA in The District

Bison meet Cal Tuesday afternoon; HU takes on UCLA Wednesday night

WASHINGTON (March 25, 2025) – The Howard University softball team is set to host back-to-back matchups in The District. Tuesday (March 25), HU takes on Cal Berkeley at 1 p.m. The next day (March 26), the Bison face No. 6 UCLA for Girls and Women in Sports Night, in D.C

HOWARD
 
HU (11-15) looks to get off to a hot start against two talented squads.
 
In her last outing, junior Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) had a career-high 12 strikeouts in 6.1 innings at South Carolina State (March 22).
 
CAL BERKELEY
 
Cal (23-7) took on the Virginia in a three-game series (March 21-23), dropping the first two games (6-7, 5-6) but came back and secured a 12-3 victory in the series finale.
 
UCLA
 
UCLA (28-5) faced Iowa in a two-game series (March 22-23). The Bruins split the series, winning 8-0 in the opener, then falling 4-7 in the nightcap.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On March 22-23, Howard won two-out-of-three at South Carolina State (SCSU) in league play.
 
Saturday (Mar 22), the Lady Bison swept against SCSU, winning 4-1 and 9-8. The next day (March 23), they fell short, 5-1, to the Bulldogs in their first MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) loss of the season.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On March 29-30, Howard goes to Salisbury, Md., to meet Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in a three-games series. Saturday (March 29), HU takes on UMES in a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Sunday (March 30) at noon.
