FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (March 17, 2025) – BOXTOROW unveiled its 17
th HBCU Division I college basketball All-American Teams and Major Awards where Howard University freshman standout
Blake Harper (Washington) took home National Player of the Year and the Impact Award. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Harper becomes only the third Bison in program history to win the prestigious HBCU National Player of the Year, dating back to the 2008-09 campaign, joining
James Daniel III (2015-16) and
R.J. Cole (2017-18).
Tuesday (March 11), Harper became the first player in the MEAC's (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) 54-year storied history to win the league's Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season.
After the regular season, the HBCU All-American ranked first in scoring (19.3 points per game) with 29 double-digit performances, including five 30-point outbursts. The All-MEAC First Team selection claimed MEAC Rookie of the Week 18 straight weeks, shattering the previous mark held by Cole.
Fourteen schools were represented on this year's BOXTOROW All-America teams.
Southern's Chris Johnson and South Carolina State's Erik Martin were named Co-HBCU National Coaches of the Year.
BOXTOROW has administered the All-America team since 2009.
