WASHINGTON (March 15, 2025) – The Howard University softball team takes on North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in a three-game series in D.C., beginning Saturday (March 15) with doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Sunday (March 16) at noon.

HU (6-13) looks to get off to a hot start.

Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) took home the league's Pitcher of the Week. The Arizona native and senior
Mia Gonzales (Atwater, Calif.) each registered a save this season.

Angel Riggins (San Diego) leads the league with six doubles.
NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL
NCCU (3-20) took on Western Carolina (WCU) in a two-game series Tuesday (March 11) before facing North Carolina A&T State (NCAT) the next day (March 12). The Eagles split the series against WCU, falling 15-2 in the opener before bouncing back with a 10- 7 win. They followed up with a 4-3 extra-inning victory over NCAT.

Tuesday (March 11), the Lady Bison (6-13) fell to George Mason, 5-3, in Fairfax, Va.
Sophomore
Lauryn Jones (San Diego) was a key playmaker for Howard, recording two singles and applying pressure on the base paths to create scoring chances.

Kenna Higa (Honolulu) put the Bison on the board early, scoring the first run, while senior
Sidney Fletcher (Whittier, Calif.) delivered two clutch hits, including an RBI single in the sixth to keep Howard in the game.

Wednesday (March 19), Howard faces Hofstra in D.C. First-pitch at 1 p.m.
Later that week (March 22-23), the Lady Bison resumes league play, facing South Carolina State in a three-game series in Orangeburg, S.C.
