NORFOLK, Va. (March 11, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its men's basketball postseason honors where Howard University freshman guard
Blake Harper (Washington) highlighted the night, winning the league's Player & Rookie of the Year awards. The announcement came Tuesday evening during the conference's annual awards ceremony.
In the league's 54-year storied history, Harper becomes the first player to win both accolades in the same season. The three-time MEAC Player of the Week recipient ranked first in scoring (19.3 points per game) with 29 double-digit performances, including five 30-point outbursts. The All-MEAC First Team selection claimed MEAC Rookie of the Week 18 straight weeks, shattering the previous mark held by former Bison and MEAC Player of the Year
R.J. Cole.
Harper was also selected to the All-Rookie Team, alongside fellow classmate
Calvin Robins Jr. (Chicago), who saw action in 19 games during the regular season, including four starts.
Senior guard
Marcus Dockery (Washington) earned All-MEAC Second Team while graduate forward
Cameron Shockley-Okeke (Norwalk, Conn.) made the All-MEAC Third Team. After the regular season, both Bison finished tied for second in three-point field goals made per game (2.4).
Redshirt junior forward
Ayodele Taiwo (Lagos, Nigeria) rounded out HU, securing a spot on the All-Defensive Team. Taiwo finished the regular season second in blocks per game (1.4).
Coppin State's Toby Nnadozie earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Year. Norfolk State's Brian Moore, Jr., garnered the Newcomer of the Year while Sixth-Player of the Year laurels went to South Carolina State's (S.C. State) Davion Everett. S.C. State head coach Erik Martin was named the MEAC Coach of the Year.
All awards were voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
