Howard (6-12) is seeking to build momentum for Saturday's conference opener against North Carolina Central (March 15-16).
On March 4, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its softball weekly award where junior
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) took home the league's Pitcher of the Week. The Arizona native and senior
Mia Gonzales (Atwater, Calif.) each registered a save this season.
At the plate, second-year Bison
Angel Riggins (San Diego) leads the league with six doubles.
GEORGE MASON
Mason (6-15) enters Tuesday's clash after Sunday's (March 9) win over Longwood, 4-2, snapping a five-game skid. The club ranks first in the conference in triples (9), which ranks 20
th nationally.
Monday (March 10), freshman pitcher Abbey Lane was named the Atlantic 10 (A-10) Rookie of the Week. This season, she ranks second in the A-10 for saves (2), which ranks her 22
nd in the nation.
LAST TIMEOUT
Howard went 2-4 at the Outrigger Invite (Feb. 26-March 1), hosted by Hawaii.
After dropping the first two games, HU rebounded with a 3-1 victory over Jackson State (JSU) Friday (Feb. 28). Junior outfielder
Maryn Jordan (San Diego) delivered a two-run blast in the win.
The next day (March 1), Howard defeated JSU in extra innings, 2-1 (f/8). Holt earned her second win of the year, going 4.1 innings with four Ks in the victory.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On March 15-16, Howard opens conference play with a three-game series versus North Carolina Central. Saturday's (March 15) doubleheader begins at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning game at noon Sunday (March 16).
