WASHINGTON (February 7, 2025) – Howard University track & field program returns to Philadelphia for the third time this indoor season, competing in the Penn Classic, hosted by the Quakers.

MEN
Fifth-year Bison
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) is among the top short hurdlers (60-meter) in the country with a conference-best time of 7.82 (45
th in the nation).
In the field, senior
Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.) competes in the long jump, leaping a league-leading 7.51 meters (24'7.75"), which ranks 33
rd in the nation.
WOMEN
Graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom), two-time MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Track Athlete of the Week, ran a MEAC-best 8.13 in the 60-meter hurdles, ranking 12
th in the country.
Thursday (Feb. 6), juniors
Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) and
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.) won MEAC Field Athlete of the Week and Track Athlete of the Week.
LAST TIMEOUT
Last weekend (Jan. 31-Feb. 1), both teams competed in the Bob Pollock Invitational, hosted by Clemson University.
On the men's side, the 4x400 relay squad of graduate
Noah Langford (Virginia Beach, Va.), sophomore
Emerson McKindra (Linden, N.J.) and rookies
Cameron Brazell (Houston) and
Elijah Grant (Fort Mill, S.C.) broke a 41-year program record, which was set back in 1984, clocking in at 3:09.58.
In the field, senior
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) leaped over 22-feet (6.99 meters) in the long jump where he placed sixth overall.
For the women, Armstrong finished third overall in the triple jump (12.53 meters) after falling just short of the school record.
On the track, Sey and junior
Lauren Thompson (Frisco, Texas) represented Bison Nation in the short hurdles (60-meter) where they placed second (8.25) and fourth (8.51), respectively.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Feb. 14-15, HU goes to the Windy City (Chicago) for the annual Wisconsin Windy City Invite, hosted by the Badgers.
