NORFOLK, Va. (February 10, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its men's basketball weekly honors where Howard University had a pair of Bison acknowledged for their efforts during the week. The announcement came Monday.
Freshman guard
Blake Harper (Washington) won MEAC Rookie of the Week for a record-setting 14
th time while redshirt junior forward
Ayodele Taiwo (Lagos, Nigeria) claimed the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Harper averaged 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists during the two-game span against South Carolina State (SCSU) and North Carolina Central (NCCU). Monday (Feb. 3), the D.C. native produced 17 points, six boards and four dimes versus the Bulldogs. On Feb. 8, he added 18 points and four rebounds in the victory over NCCU.
In his first collegiate start, Taiwo flirted with a double-double, racking up an impressive 11 blocks and nine boards in the win over NCCU.
Senior guard
Marcus Dockery (Washington) received honorable mention after averaging 19.5 points on 58-percent shooting (7-of-12) from downtown.
South Carolina State's Omar Croskey was named MEAC Player of the Week.
Howard looks to extend its current win streak when it travels to Dover, Del., to take on the Hornets of Delaware State Saturday (Feb. 15) at 4 p.m.
