Bison close out 2025 at Wildcats

WASHINGTON (December 29, 2025) – Howard University men's basketball team returns to the hardwood Tuesday (Dec. 30), facing Big Ten opponent Northwestern. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. (ET) / 4 p.m. (CT), live on the B1G Ten Network.

COACHES
 
Howard (9-5) is coached by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95), who is in his seventh season. Northwestern is led by fellow Duke alum Chris Collins (Duke, '96), who is in his 11th season.
 
SERIES RECORD
 
The two institutions met in the 2007-08 season where the Wildcats came away with a 77-51 victory.

On Dec. 20, graduate guard Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) and junior guard Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta) each recorded a double-double to lead the Bison to a 67-66 win over UNCW at Trask Coliseum.
 
NORTHWESTERN
 
Northwestern (7-5) is coming off a 61-58 road loss at Butler that snapped a two-game win streak (Dec. 20). Jayden Reid led Northwestern with 14 points and six assists.

Harris has established himself as one of the best players in the country, currently ranked seventh nationally in total points, tied for eighth in free throw attempts, tied for 10th in free throws made and 37th in points per game…Harris, the frontrunner for MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Year, ranks first in scoring (19.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg)…Junior guard Alex Cotton (Carrollton, Texas) ranks third three pointers made per game (2.4)…Junior guard Cam Gillus (Falls Church, Va.) is second in steals, fourth in assists and ninth in assist/turnover ratio…Senior guard Ose Okojie (Brampton, Canada) is ninth in steals…Nationally, the Bison are tied for 30th in steals per game, 49th in free throws attempts per game and 25th in forced turnovers per game…In the MEAC, Howard leads the conference in scoring defense, three-point field goal percentage defense and blocks.
