The Rattlers opened the season with a 112-39 road loss at crosstown opponent Florida State. FAMU (Florida A&M) shot just under 19 percent from the floor, 17-percent from three-point range.
As a team, the Rattlers grabbed 17 offensive rebounds and blocked shots. The leading scorer was freshman guard Cornelia Ellington with 16 points and senior guard Jordan Boddie added eight points.

Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) scored a team-high 15 points and redshirt sophomore
April Edwards added 11 points to lift Howard to a 68-56 win over Providence College at Alumni Hall.
