LUBBOCK, Texas & NEW YORK (January 18, 2025) – Howard University men's track & field program excelled in a pair of meets over the weekend: Corky Classic (Jan. 17-18) and HBCU Showcase (Jan. 18).
CORKY CLASSIC
Graduate sprinter
Goba Dan-Princewill (Houston) highlighted the weekend, setting a new school record in the 60-meter dash (6.71) while advancing to the semifinal round. The Houston native also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing second overall with a 21.11 mark.
Graduate
Noah Langford (Virginia Beach, Va.), fifth-year Bison
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) and junior
Jorim Bangue (Yaoundé, Cameroon) each made the 60-meter hurdles semifinal round but fell just shy of reaching the final round.
HBCU SHOWCASE
At the Armory in New York City, rookies
Habtamu Epley (Chicago) and
Paul Robinson (Bowie, Md.) finished fifth (4:31.10) and seventh (4:34.97), respectively, in the mile run.
Epley and
Adam Abiade competed in the 3K run, recording times of 9:04.82 (sixth) and 9:23.14 (eighth), respectively.
Second-year Bison
Jordan Good (Burlington, N.C.) earned eighth place in the 800-meter run (1:55.55).
In the field, junior
Andre Prince (Windsor, Conn.) placed fourth overall in the weight throw, tossing 50 feet (15.24 meters).
Senior
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) claimed seventh place in the triple jump, leaping over 47 feet (14.36 meters).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Saturday (Jan. 25), HU returns to the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) for the Penn 10 Elite, hosted by the Quakers.
