NORFOLK, Va. (January 16, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its men's and women's track & field weekly honors where Howard University had a pair of Bison acknowledged for their outstanding performances at the annual Rod McCravy Invite (Jan. 10-11), hosted by the University of Kentucky.
Graduate hurdlers
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) and
Marcia Sey (London United Kingdom) received MEAC Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Hawkins finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in Louisville, recording a MEAC-best time of 7.87, ranking 21
st nationally.
For Sey, the London native placed third overall in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at a MEAC-leading 8.21, which ranks seventh in the country.
Bison jumpers
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) and
Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) earned honorable mention.
Norfolk State seniors Isaac Haywood and Leslie Young won MEAC Men's & Women's Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.
HU is set to compete another pair of meets: Cork Classic (Jan. 17-18) and HBCU Showcase (Jan. 17).
