WASHINGTON (July 22, 2024) – CBS Sports revealed its CBS Sports Classic: HBCU Showcase men's basketball doubleheader rivalry matchups where Howard University was among the four selected participants. The announcement came Monday morning.
 
On Dec. 28, the Bison clash with rival Hampton, broadcasted nationally on the CBS Television Network and streamed live on Paramount+. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. (ET) inside the Convocation Center in Hampton, Va.
 
"We're thrilled for our men's basketball team to play in this exciting event," said Howard Director of Athletics Kery Davis. "We're looking forward to renewing our long-time rivalry with Hampton in front of a national audience and we would like to thank CBS Sports for this incredible opportunity for our student-athletes."
 
The doubleheader action begins 2 p.m. (ET) with North Carolina A&T State hosting rival North Carolina Central inside the Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C., followed by the Battle of the Real HU.
 
The matchups capture the passion, tradition and history of HBCUs and fans.

"The CBS Sports Classic: HBCU Showcase will highlight two great rivalry games as well as celebrate the HBCU experience and the incredible atmospheres on these campuses."
 
Last season, both programs split their regular season matchups. Howard defeated the Pirates in its season opener, 92-80, inside The Burr (Nov. 6, 2023), but fell in the rematch, 63-61, at the annual Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic (Feb. 3, 2024) in Newark, N.J.
 
Howard wrapped up the 2023-24 season with its third straight winning season (18-17, 9-5 MEAC) while earning its second straight trip to the Big Dance.
