NORFOLK, Va. (April 3, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its men's and women's basketball all-academic teams where Howard University saw six Bison make the cut. The announcement came Thursday.
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), along with transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
"Congratulations to all of our Men's and Women's Basketball All-Academic student-athletes," said MEAC Commissioner
Sonja Stills. "Success on the court is built upon the foundation of discipline, teamwork and determination. These are the true values that also foster excellence in the classroom. Our academic basketball team represents the perfect balance between athletic achievement and intellectual growth, proving that true champions excel both in sports and in their studies."
This year's recipients included
Amirah Allen (Raleigh, N.C.),
Vanessa Blake (Summerville, S.C.),
Sa'lah Hemingway (San Bernadino, Calif.),
Marissa Steel (Laurel, Md.),
Miles Stewart (Orlando, Fla.) and
Tyana Walker (Leawood, Kan.).
Overall, 105 student-athletes from the league's 'Elite Eight' members achieved academic success.
