GREENWOOD, Ind. (May 30, 2024) – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Committee unveiled its 2023-24 Softball Division I All-District Team where Howard University saw a pair of Bison acknowledged for their academic success off the field. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon (May 28).
All-Conference selections
Kenna Higa (Honolulu) and
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) were tabbed for their academic committee inside the classroom.
In her first season as a Bison, Higa, All-MEAC Second Team honoree, ranked among the league leaders in several offensive categories, including walks (t-4
th), runs scored (t-5
th) and RBIs (5
th), while accumulating a 4.00 grade point average (GPA) in business management.
For Holt, the history major amassed a cumulative 3.76 GPA while becoming one the country's top relief pitchers. During the 2024 campaign, All-MEAC First Team selection ranked nationally in two pitching categories: ERA (6
th) and saves (8
th).
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
The Bison conclude their historic season with a 32-13 record (16-5 MEAC), including eight all-conference players, three broken program records and two top-10 nationally ranked student-athletes.
