LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 18, 2024) – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) unveiled its 2024 NCAA Division I All-Region honors for the Mid-Atlantic where Howard University had a pair of Bison recognized for their outstanding performances during the season. The announcement came Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Maryn Jordan (San Diego) and rookie
Cheyenne Castille (Eastvale, Calif.) were named to the NFCA All-Region Third Team.
Jordan, 2024 All-MEAC First Team selection, ranked among the top hitters nationally. The San Diego native finished second in the country with a .467 batting average while producing a .535 on-base percentage (10
th in the nation).
Castille wrapped up her freshman campaign among the top rookies in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Overall, she ranked among the league leaders in several offensive categories, including batting average (3
rd), on-base percentage (2
nd) and OPS (7
th).
Overall, the NFCA acknowledged 376 student-athletes from 160 programs, including all 32 conferences.
NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes (eight maximum) and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2024 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
The 2024 NFCA Division I All-America teams, voted on by the NFCA DI All-American Committee, will be announced Wednesday, May 29.
The Bison conclude their historic season with a 32-13 record (16-5 MEAC), including eight All-Conference players, three broken program records and two top-10 nationally ranked players.
