WASHINGTON (April 6, 2024) – Howard University men's track & field team finished runner-up in the annual Bison Classic, co-hosted by HU and Gallaudet University, where they tallied 60 points on Senior Day.
Overall, the Bison had five first-place finishes.
On the track, senior
Ezekiel Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) won the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.60 mark. Fifth-year Bison
Darian Clyburn (Louisville, Ky.) and junior
Amon-Ra Watkins (Bronx, N.Y.) also competed in the event, earning second (14.61) and fourth (15.72), respectively.
Sophomore
Kobe Hutson (Bridgetown, Barbados) took home gold in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:56.50. Junior
Marsellis Davis (Columbus, Ohio) also took part, taking fourth overall (1:58.69).
In the field, juniors
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) and
Eric Brown II (Raleigh, N.C.) represented Bison Nation in the long jump, placing first (6.75 meters) and second (6.66 meters), respectively.
Graduate
Danree Delancey (Bethel Towns, Westmoreland) grabbed first in the shot put (15.90 meters) while second-year Bison
Andre Prince (Windsor, Conn.) claimed the top spot in the hammer (48.74 meters).
McDaniel College won the 2024 Bison Classic, edging out HU by nine points.
During the meet, Howard Director of Track & Field
David Oliver and the program recognized 11 Bison for their hard work and dedication, including Clyburn,
Noah Langford (Portsmouth, Va.) and
Ja'Leak Perry (Atlanta) and manager
JahNiyah Thomas.
The Bison will travel to Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Invitational, hosted by Florida (April 12-13).
