PRINCETON, N.J. (April 7, 2024) – Howard University men's golf team held a two-stroke lead going into the final round, but Princeton shot its best round of the tournament, recording a tourney-best 275 (-9) to win the 2024 Princeton Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event took place at the Springdale Golf Club (par-71, 6,444 yards) in Princeton, N.J.
Overall, the Bison shot three-over par (855) with round two being the squad's best collective effort (281, -3).
Graduates
Gregory Odom Jr. (Memphis, Tenn.) and
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) led HU throughout the weekend, sharing the individual crown with six-under par (207) performances. Odom held the early lead after round one, shooting five-under par (66), while the Virginia native had his best outing in round two with a 3-under par (68) effort.
Senior
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) finished tied for 26
th after posting an eight-over par (221) in 54 holes of action.
Princeton registered nine-under par (843) in three rounds, led by Riccardo Fantinelli tying Odom and Whiten for the top spot in the player leaderboard.
On April 26-28, Howard goes to Pine Mountain, Ga., for the Northeast Championships, held at Callaway Resorts & Gardens.
