WASHINGTON (September 27, 2026) – Howard University men's golf program will send four Bison to nearby College Park, Md., for the Maryland Invitational Monday (Sept. 28). The 36-hole, individual tourney takes place at the Maryland Golf Course (par-71, 7,015 yards).

HISTORY
In November 1954, Dr. Wilson H. Elkins, President, University of Maryland, commissioned a study for a proposed golf course to serve the University community. This effort was chaired by Mr. James M. Tatum, the Athletic Director. His committee consisted of six additional members, including the prime instigator for the project, Mr. Frank H. Cronin, University of Maryland class of 1939, track, boxing and golf coach and present-day member of the University of Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame. Also serving on the committee were Dean Lester M. Fraley, College of Physical Education, Recreation and Health; Mr. George O. Weber, Director of the University Physical Plant; Mr. Mark M. Shoemaker, University Landscape Architect; Dean Gordon M. Cairns, College of Agriculture; and Mr. Robinson Lappin, Director, Dining Hall, who had assisted Mr. Cronin in garnering support for the golf course.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
Programs represented in this year's tourney includes Howard, Maryland, George Washington, Loyola (Md.), Maryland Eastern Shore and William & Mary.

Kezaia Dimosi (London, England) and
Bear Huff (Riverside, Calif.), junior
Michael Perusse (Pearland, Texas) and sophomore
Ander Martinez (Alvarado, Veracruz Mexico) will represent Bison Nation in College Park.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Sept. 26-27, Howard competed in the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, hosted by Ball State, where they earned fifth overall in the tourney.
Senior
Francisco Perez (Los Mochis, Mexico) led the charge, firing 2-under par (208) while tying for fifth overall.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Oct. 4-6, Howard goes to Dallas for the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU.
