WASHINGTON (April 19, 2024) - Howard Softball travels to Baltimore to play Morgan State University (MSU) in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play. The Lady Bison and the Lady Bears are tied for first-place at 13-2. The matchup will decide who holds first place in the standings with one weekend remaining. Saturday's (April 20) doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m., while Sunday's (April 21) seven-inning game is slated for noon.

HOWARD
 
On the season, Howard holds a 29-8 record (13-2), including a program-best 12-game win streak (March 16-April 13).
 
This season, outfielder Maryn Jordan (San Diego) is batting a nation-best .495 with 19 RBIs. The San Diego native is also ranked 10^th with a .586 slugging percentage.
 
Fellow outfielder Bianca Worthy (Goodyear, Ariz.) is batting .419, which is ranked 44^th nationally.
 
Other notable hitters include catcher/utility player Merci Hart (Los Angeles) batting .340 with 24 RBIs, shortstop Sidney Fletcher (Whittier, Calif.) is batting .290 with 22 RBIs and three home runs and first baseman Kenna Higa (Honolulu) is batting .378 on the season with 22 RBIs and one home run. Junior catcher Alyssa Vasquez (Eastvale, Calif.) is batting .330 with 28 RBIs, infielder Lealani Ricks (Madera, Calif.) is hitting .317 and freshman utility player Angel Riggins (San Diego) is batting .346 with 19 RBIs this season.
 
On the mound, the Lady Bison have been excellent, only allowing a 3.14 ERA in 37 games. The rotation of Amelia Weber (Montclair, Calif.), Mia Gonzales (Atwater, Calif.), Jordin King (Pomona, Calif.) and Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) have kept the opposition off balance. Weber has a 11-3 record with a 4.25 ERA in 21 appearances (17 starts). Gonzalez has a 7-1 mark while having a 3.11 ERA in 20 appearances (12 starts). King has a 5-4 record with a 3.59 ERA in 12 appearances (seven starts). Holt holds a 6-0 record in 19 appearances while having an impressive 0.98 ERA, which is sixth in the country.
 
MORGAN STATE
 
On the season, Morgan State has a 25-15 record (13-2 MEAC).
 
The star players on the Bears are graduate student pitcher and first baseman Victoria Fletcher and catcher/outfielder Amber Rivas. On the season, Fletcher is batting .359 with 25 RBIs and four home runs. Rivas is hitting .333 with 16 RBIs.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Last weekend (April 13-14), the Lady Bison won their last series against Coppin State, winning two of the three games. Howard won the first game, 4-3, lost the second game 6-2, and dominated the series clinching game in five, 10-2.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On April 27-28, Howard closes out the regular season with Norfolk State in D.C. Saturday's (April 27) doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Sunday (April 28) at noon.
