WASHINGTON (March 28, 2024) - Howard Softball puts its win streak on the line when they host three games against Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy.

The slate starts with a doubleheader Friday (March 29) at 1 p.m. Saturday (March 30), the series concludes with a seven-inning contest at noon.

Since 2006, Howard leads the series, 30-13. Last season, the two programs met five times with HU winning the last four, including a victory in the MEAC Tournament.

Amelia Weber (Montclair, Calif.),
Mia Gonzales (Atwater, Calif.) and
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) have dominated, combining for 19 wins.

Weber has a 9-3 record while Gonzalez has a 6-1 mark. Holt holds a perfect 4-0 record in 16 appearances with a 1.07 ERA.

MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE

On the season, Maryland Eastern Shore has a 6-21 record (1-5 MEAC) heading into the three game slate against the Bison. The Hawks have victories against Grambling State, Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Louisiana Christian, Detroit Mercy and Coppin State.

Last weekend at Morgan State (March 22 & 24), they were swept by the Lady Bears (0-3).

The star player on the Hawks is senior pitcher/outfielder Ameenah Ballenger, who is batting .363 with 27 RBIs and three home runs.

The Lady Bison won their last series against South Carolina State, sweeping all three games against the Lady Bulldogs.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

On April 6-7, Howard goes to Dover, Del., to face Delaware State. The series starts with a Saturday (April 6) doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Sunday (April 7) at noon.
