Bison Trio Earn MEAC Men’s Basketball Postseason Accolades

Big Three recognized for outstanding seasons

NORFOLK, Va. (March 12, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its men's basketball postseason honors where Howard University saw three Bison recognized for their outstanding efforts during the 2023-24 season. The announcement came Tuesday evening during the league's annual awards ceremony in Norfolk, Va.
 
Junior guards Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Marcus Dockery (Washington) were named to the All-MEAC First Team and Second Team, respectively, while graduate forward Seth Towns (Columbus, Ohio) claimed a spot on the Third Team. Harris and Towns were selected to the All-Defensive Team.
 
Harris led the league in field goal percentage at 57-percent, which ranks 40th in the nation. The New York native won MEAC Defensive Player of the Week six times after ranking among the league leaders in rebounding (2nd) and blocks (6th).
 
Dockery topped the MEAC in three-point field goal percentage at 40-percent, which ranks 39th in the country. The D.C. product also led the conference in three-point field goal percentage and three-point field goals made.
 
Towns received three MEAC weekly honors during his first season with the Bison. The Ohio native ranked among the conference leaders in several categories, including scoring (9th), rebounding (5th), free throw percentage (5th), three-point field goals made (3rd) and assists (7th).
 
Norfolk State (NSU) senior guard Jamarii Thomas was named MEAC Player and Newcomer of the Year. Delaware State Deywilk Tavarez received Rookie of the Year while Maryland Eastern Shore junior forward Troy Hupstead earned Defensive Player of the Year. NSU graduate student Allen Betrand garnered the Sixth Player of the Year while Spartan head coach Robert Jones was named Coach of the Year.
 
All awards were voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
 
Thursday (March 14), HU opens its title defense against beltway rival Morgan State in the MEAC Tournament Quarterfinals. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m., at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
