CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (December 7, 2024) – Howard University women's track & field team earned second place at the annual HBCU & Ivy Challenge, hosted by Harvard University, in Cambridge, Mass.
Howard fell one point shy of tying Harvard, tallying 116 points. Collectively, the Bison won three events.
Graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) set the tone with a record-setting performance in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.21 (meet record). Sophomore
Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and senior
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) also competed in the short hurdles, earning second (7.53) and third (7.59), respectively.
The 4x400 relay team of Pittman, juniors
Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga.) and
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburn, N.C.) and newcomer
Lindsay Johnson (Detroit) placed first overall, producing a 3.47.74 time.
In the field, juniors
Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.),
Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) and
Ija Mumford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) swept the podium in the triple jump, taking gold (11.92 meters), silver (11.78 meters) and bronze (11.64 meters), respectively.
On Dec. 13, Howard goes to Staten Island, N.Y., for the annual Seahawk Shootout, hosted by Wagner College.
