Women’s Hoops Closes Out Road Swing at Hofstra

Bison looking to get back in the win column against Pride

WASHINGTON (December 7, 2024) – Howard University women's basketball team closes out its brief two-game road swing at Hofstra Sunday (Dec. 8). Game time is set for 2 p.m.

Friday (Dec. 6), junior forward Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) poured in a career-high 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, but it was not enough as the Bison dropped an 87-63 loss at Seton Hall in East Orange, N.J.
 
HOFSTRA
 
Hofstra (2-5) dropped a 75-48 road loss at Florida Monday (Dec. 2) for its third straight loss. The Pride was led by Chloe Sterling, who finished with 19 points and La'Nae Corbett added nine points in a losing cause.
 
SERIES RECORD
 
This is only the fourth meeting between the two institutions. The Bison lead the series, 2-1.
 
In 2019, the Bison defeated Hofstra, 73-64, in the first meeting and prevailed, 64-62, in overtime in 2021. The Pride came away with a hard-fought 58-49 win last year at The Burr.

Howard is coached by Ty Grace (New Haven,'99), who is in her 10th season. Hofstra is coached by Danielle Santos- Atkinson (Florida '06), who is in her sixth season.

Graduate guard Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) has reached double figures in all nine games this season while moving up on the school all-time scoring list to No. 18 with 1,101 points and counting...Howell was named the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Week and Saniyah King (Washington) was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week for the third time in this young season....the points allowed by the Bison in the loss at Seton Hall was the most allowed this season.
