NORFOLK, Va. (December 2, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's basketball weekly honors where Howard University saw a pair of Bison recognized for their outstanding performances. The announcement came Monday evening.
Graduate guard
Destiny Howell (Queen, N.Y.) won MEAC Co-Player of the Week while freshman standout
Saniyah King (Washington) grabbed Rookie of the Week.
In two contests, Howell averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 boards, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals. In Friday's (Nov. 29) victory at William & Mary, she flirted with a double-double (19 points & nine rebounds). Two days later (Dec. 1), the New York native had 21 points versus crosstown rival Georgetown.
King averaged 8.5 points, 7.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds while guiding the Bison to a 1-1 mark. She registered 11 points and six dimes in the road win at William & Mary. Sunday (Dec. 1), the D.C. product filled the stat sheet, finishing with eight assists, six points and four boards.
Junior forward
Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) received honorable mention.
Coppin State's Angel Jones shared MEAC Player of the Week with Howell while fellow Eagle forward Laila Lawrence earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Howard travels to New Jersey to take on Seton Hall Friday (Dec. 6) at 7 p.m.
