NORFOLK, Va. (December 23, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's basketball weekly honors where Howard University saw D.C. native
Saniyah King claim the league's Rookie of the Week award for the fifth time this season. The announcement came Monday.
King averaged 12.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds during the week. At the Hawk Classic (Dec. 20-21) in Philly, she was selected to the All-Tournament Team for her performances against Saint Joe's and Northwestern.
This season, King leads the MEAC in total assists (68), which ranks 21
st in the country.
Graduate guard
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) earned honorable mention after averaging 17.6 points, 3.6 boards and 1.6 assists during a three-game span.
Coppin State forward Laila Lawrence was named MEAC Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week.
Howard closes out the 2024 schedule and nonconference play Sunday (Dec. 29) when they travel crosstown to take on American for a 12:30 p.m. tipoff.
