Women’s Basketball Picked First in MEAC Preseason Poll

Miller, Thomas selected to the First Team

NORFOLK, Va. (October 8, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's basketball preseason order of prediction where Howard University was picked to first finish in the league's preseason poll. The announcement came during the annual conference's Media Day.

Howard tallied 118 points with 10 first-place votes. Last season, HU finished 22-11 overall (12-2 MEAC) while reaching the MEAC Title game for the fifth straight year.

Reigning MEAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Norfolk State was picked second after scoring 107 points, including four first-place votes.

Additionally, the league unveiled its preseason honors where seniors Nile Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) and Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) made All-MEAC First Team.

A year ago, Miller saw action in all 34 games (32 starts) while ranking among the conference leaders in multiple categories. For her efforts, she was named to the All-MEAC Third Team and All-Defensive Team.

For Thomas, the Cleveland native shot a MEAC-best 50-percent from the field in her first season as a Bison. Last season, she made the All-MEAC Third Team and All-Tournament Team.

All awards were voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.

On Nov. 4, HU opens the new season at Providence. Tipoff at 7 p.m.
