OHAMA, Neb. (December 17, 2024) – The Associated Press (AP) unveiled its 2024 FCS All-American Team where Howard University graduate defensive back
Kenny Gallop Jr. (Portsmouth, Va.) earned a spot on the First Team. The announcement came Wednesday evening.
Earlier this month (Dec. 5), Gallop was selected to the 2024 HBCU College Football All-America Team for the third time in his illustrious career, becoming the first defensive player to be named a three-time All-American in BOXTOROW history.
In his final season, the All-MEAC First Team selection produced 77 total tackles (52 solos), seven tackles for loss, four pass breakups, three sacks, three QB hurries, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
In 44 games, he finished his illustrious career with 325 total tackles (210 solos), 20 tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups, 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two INTs.
In November, the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Year was selected to the 2025 HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans.
The All-America team is selected for the AP by a panel of sports information directors and sports writers who cover the FCS.
