McKinnon Receives AVCA Postseason Recognition

Alabama native continues to rack up postseason honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. (December 18, 2024) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) unveiled its Division I All-American Teams where Howard University junior standout Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) received honorable mention after a stellar season. The announcement came Wednesday morning.
 
McKinnon took home MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, becoming the first player in league history since 1998. The Alabama native wrapped up her junior campaign topping the conference in kills per set (4.40), which ranks 25th in the nation.
 
Howard finished the 2024 season with a 23-6 mark (14-0 MEAC) while winning the MEAC Regular Season crown.
