NORFOLK, Va. (December 16, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its men's basketball weekly honors where Howard University saw two Bison recognized for their outstanding performances. The announcement came Monday.
Senior guard
Marcus Dockery (Washington) was selected MEAC Player of the Week while fellow D.C. native
Blake Harper took home the league's Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season.
Dockery averaged 28.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds while guiding the Bison a perfect 2-0 week. After posting a career-high 29 points against Virginia-Lynchburg (Dec. 11), the D.C. product followed with a 27-point, seven-assist (career-high) performance in the win over UNCW (Dec. 14).
Wednesday (Dec. 13), Harper (G, 6-5, Fr., Washington, D.C.) registered the first triple-double in program history with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in the Bison's 124-50 win over Virginia-Lynchburg. Three days later (Dec. 14), he notched 18 points, seven board and four dimes against the Seahawks.
South Carolina State forward Drayton Jones earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Howard closes out the 2024 home schedule Tuesday (Dec. 17) when it hosts Drexel at 3:30 p.m., inside The Burr.
