NORFOLK, Va. (November 5, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly awards where Howard University saw two Bison acknowledged for their incredible performances against Delaware State (DSU) and Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The announcement came Tuesday morning.
Senior outside hitter
Dami Awojobi (Hempstead, N.Y.) won MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season while junior
Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas) claimed Setter of the Week for the sixth consecutive week.
Awojobi led the Bison to a perfect 2-0 week, averaging 10 kills, nine digs, 2.5 blocks. In the win over UMES (Nov. 3), she produced a double-double (12 kills & 11 digs) with four total blocks.
For Reeves, she orchestrated the Bison offensive with 68 total assists (11.3 per set), nine digs and four service aces en route to victories. In Friday's (Nov. 1) road win at DSU, the Texas native racked up 38 total assists, six digs and three service aces.
Coppin State's TaKenya Stafford was named MEAC Player of the Week while Norfolk State's Reagan Chisholm took home Rookie of the Week.
Howard is set to play Morgan State Friday (Nov. 8) at 6 p.m., on the road. Two days later (Nov. 10), the Lady Bison face Coppin State at 1 p.m., in Baltimore.
