Harris Makes the 2024-25 Lou Henson Early Season Watch List

HBCU All-American among the top student-athletes in mid-major college basketball

BOSTON (November 19, 2024) – Collegeinsider.com unveiled its 2024-25 Lou Henson Early Season Watch List where Howard University senior guard Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) was among the honorees. The announcement came Tuesday.

The prestigious award is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball and honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach, who won 775 games in 41 seasons. Henson is one of only 11 coaches to take two different schools to the NCAA Final Four. His teams have made 19 NCAA appearances and four NIT appearances.

Since his arrival at The Mecca, Harris been instrumental in changing the culture of Howard Basketball. The New York native has been a member of three winning seasons, two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament Titles and back-to-back NCAA Appearances.

Entering this season, the HBCU All-American was selected MEAC Preseason Player of the Year after ranking among the league leaders in several categories a year ago. Currently, Harris is only five points away of joining the exclusive 1,000-point club.

The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, along with two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.

The 2025 award will be announced in San Antonio, site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.

Howard travels to Baltimore to compete in the UMBC Multi-Team Event, hosted by the Retrievers. Sunday (Nov. 24), the Bison take on Boston University. The following day (Nov. 25), HU squares off against UMBC. Both contests are scheduled for noon.
