NORFOLK, Va. (October 7, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly awards where Howard University junior
Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas) claimed the league's Setter of the Week for the second consecutive week. The announcement came Monday.
In the matchups against Delaware State (DSU) and Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), Reeves tallied 55 total assists (9.17 assists per set) while guiding the Bison to a perfect 2-0 week. The Texas native filled the stat sheet in Friday's (Oct. 4) victory over DSU, racking up 25 assists, five digs, four total blocks and three service aces. Sunday (Oct. 6), she notched 30 assists, four digs and three total blocks at UMES.
This season, Reeves ranks among the conference leaders in assists per game (7
th) and service aces (9
th).
Fellow classmates
Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) and
Claire Simpson (Plainfield, Ill.) received honorable mention.
Coppin State's TaKenya Stafford was named MEAC Player of the Week while teammate graduate Sophia Bertotti Metoyer earned Defensive Player of the Week. Delaware State's Paige Ahakuelo was selected Rookie of the Week.
Howard is set to play Morgan State Friday (Oct. 11) at 6 p.m., and Coppin State Sunday (Oct. 13) at 1 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.
