NORFOLK, Va. (October 14, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly accolades where Howard University saw three Bison receive recognition. The announcement came Monday afternoon.

Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) claimed MEAC Player of the Week while fellow classmates
Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas) and
Claire Simpson (Plainfield, Ill.) took home the league's Setter of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
In the pair of victories over Morgan State (Oct. 11) and Coppin State (Oct. 13), McKinnon averaged 5.83 kills and 3.17 digs. She notched a double-double (20 kills & 12 digs) against the Lady Bears, followed by a 15-kill performance versus the Eagles.
Reeves posted 85 total assists (14.2 assists per set) in the home wins. The Texas native set a new career-high 46 assists versus Morgan State (MSU) while adding 39 assists and four service aces in the victory over Coppin State (CSU).
Simpson tallied 37 total digs in six sets (6.2 sets per game). She registered her sixth 20-plus dig performance against MSU while racking up 15 digs versus CSU.
Delaware State's Paige Ahakuelo was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.
The Bison return to the court Sunday (Oct. 20) at 3 p.m., when they travel to Norfolk, Va., to face the Norfolk State Spartans.
