WASHINGTON (October 10, 2024) – The Howard University women's & men's swimming and diving teams will head to New Jersey to participate in the NJIT Invitational, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12.
The quad meet features Howard, NJIT, Saint Peter's and Vermont (women only).

MEET PREVIEW
HOWARD
The Bison look to bounce back after both squads lost to the Georgetown Hoyas at the Battle At The Burr III (BATB III) Saturday (Oct. 5).
Despite the tough loss, the Bison had 11 top finishers and five members awarded with Northeast Conference (NEC) Swimming & Diving weekly recognitions and eight members made the NEC Prime Performers list.
NJIT
In their matchup against Iona, graduate student diver Aiden Ban swept the diving events, winning the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dive.
Senior Tanish Chhabra (free) and freshman Matthew Piacentini (fly/free) won three events, both in the 200-yard medley relay and 2x50 yard freestyle relay. Piacentini also won the 2x100 butterfly relay and Chhabra, the 2x100 yard freestyle relay.
SAINT PETER'S
The NIJT Invitational is the Peacock's first meet of the season.
Notable returns for the men include juniors Daniel Sanchez (freestyle) and Anthony Torres and senior Cassidy Mulligan (freestyle) returns for the women.
VERMONT (WOMEN ONLY)
Vermont women enter the weekend 2-2 overall, winning their last two duals against Central Connecticut State (Oct. 4) and Marist (Oct. 5).
Hally Laney won three events and Tannah Proudfoot swept the diving events against the Red Foxes. Overall, the Catamounts won 12 events on their way to a 170-127 win over Marist.
LAST TIMEOUT
HU packed The Burr at Saturday afternoon's (Oct. 5) BATB III, facing crosstown rival Georgetown in the most anticipated dual meet of the season. Both squads fell to the Hoyas with men coming up short, 117-107, and the women falling 133-90.
UPCOMING SEASON
Friday (Nov. 1), the Bison travel crosstown to meet American in a dual meet. First race is slated for 6 p.m.
