NORFOLK, Va. (January 18, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its men's basketball weekly honors where Howard University graduate forward
Seth Towns (Columbus, Ohio) secured the league's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. The announcement came Thursday morning.
Towns guided the Bison to a perfect 2-0 week, averaging 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals in the victories.
After a 12-point performance against rival Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday (Jan. 13), the Ohio native produced his second double-double (27 points & 10 boards) of the season in the win over Morehouse on MLK Day.
Towns ranks among the top sharpshooters in the league this season, topping the MEAC in three-point percentage (39-percent) and three-point field goals made per game (2.6).
Norfolk State guard Chris Fields, Jr., was named MEAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week.
Howard resumes conference play Saturday, January 20, in a key matchup against Norfolk State at 4 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.
