WASHINGTON (January 15, 2024) – Second-year Bison
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) led the Howard University women's swimming & diving team with a pair of victories, but the Towson Tigers were too much to overcome on MLK Day, spoiling HU Senior Day, 191-90, at Burr Gym Pool.
On the afternoon, the Maryland native grabbed gold in the 100 Fly (58.17) and 100 Free (52.55).
Rookie
Myeisha Sharrieff (Bermuda) claimed silver in the 50 Back (27.06) and 100 Back (58.36) while senior
Isabella Fountain (White Plains, N.Y.) took second place in the 50 Breast (30.65). Freshman
Chanice Posada (Houston) also took part in the 50 Back (27.07) and 100 Back (58.81), placing third overall in both races.
Junior
Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) earned three top 3 finishes on the snowy day: 100 Breast (2
nd/1:07.73); 200 IM (2
nd/2:12.60) and 50 Breast (3
rd/30.73).
Sophomores
Skylar Debnam (Chandler, Ariz.) and
Kali Garcia (Altamonte, Fla.) and newcomer
Jasmine Morgan (Chicago) each secured third place in the 500 Free (5:21.40), 50 Fly (28.17) and 50 Free (25.04), respectively.
On the board, junior
Jordynn Connell (Flower Mound, Texas) tallied 211.30 points in the 1-meter dive, placing third overall in the event.
During the event, the women's squad acknowledged seven Bison for their hard work and dedication to the program and Howard Athletics: Fountain;
