WASHINGTON (September 25, 2023) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly accolades where Howard University fifth-year senior setter
Kayla Diaz (Rockland, N.Y.) took home her third Setter of the Week award. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
In five sets, Diaz averaged 11.0 assists per set while guiding HU to a pair of wins over American (Sept. 19) and South Carolina State (Sept. 22). In Tuesday's victory over the Eagles, she produced 45 assists and five service aces. Three nights later, the New York product registered 10 assists in one set against the Lady Bulldogs.
This season, Diaz tops the MEAC in total service aces (25), which ranks 29
th in the nation.

Coppin State sophomore outside hitter TaKenya Stafford was named MEAC Player of the Week while teammate redshirt senior libero Ashley Roman and Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore libero Valeria Matias earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors. Norfolk State's Gabrielle Gilbert was selected Rookie of the Week.
The Bison take off for their first away conference game, September 29, at 6 p.m. when they face rival and reigning MEAC Champions Delaware State in Dover, Del.
