23 Bison Selected to the NEC Spring Academic & Commissioner’s Honor Roll

Howard golf and lacrosse programs acknowledged for their hard work inside the classroom

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (June 15, 2023) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) revealed its 2023 Spring Academic and Commissioner's Honor Rolls where Howard University had 23 Bison acknowledged for their hard work and dedication inside the classroom. The announcement came Thursday afternoon.
 
The honorees consisted of student-athletes from the men's and women's golf teams and women's lacrosse program.
 
Among this year's recipients included Chase Coleman (Houston), Andrea Fievre (Snellville, Ga.), Logan Ford (Charlotte, N.C.), Marley Franklin (Los Angeles), Hugo Garcia (Dubai, UAE), Justin Green (Chesapeake, Va.), Morgan Horrell (Dallas), Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas), Skylar Jennings (Philadelphia), Madison Joines (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Rania Jones (Alexandra, Va.), Richard Jones Jr. (Mastic, N.Y.), Curtis Merritt (Wareham, Mass.), Tyler Murray (Chicago), Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.), Makenna Rodriguez (Delray Beach, Fla.), Raquel Simpson (Chicago), Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.), Morgan Taylor (Ellicott City, Md.), Madison Townsend (Lawrenceville, Ga.), Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.), Kimora Williams (Marlton, N.J.) and Taylor Worsham (Severn, Md.).
 
Overall, more than 1,300 student-athletes earned a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) or better during the spring semester.
 
Additionally, nearly 500 student-athletes made the spring commissioner's honor roll after producing a 3.75 GPA or above, including 10 Bison (Ford, Franklin, Garcia, Green, Horrell, Jennings, Merritt, Richardson, Simpson & Williams).
 
Over the course of the 2022-23 academic year, 3,489 NEC student-athletes landed a spot on the Academic Honor Roll. This figure, which accounts for over two-thirds of all NEC competitors, represents the third-highest number of honorees in conference history. Similarly, the Commissioner's Honor Roll boasted 1,317 student-athletes, marking the second-highest tally ever recorded.
 
All three programs continue the pursuit of their first NEC title in Spring 2024.
