WASHINGTON (June 14, 2023) – The Bluebloods unveiled its 2023 FCS Preseason All-American Team where Howard University senior defensive back Kenny Gallop, Jr. (Portsmouth, Va.) made the squad. The announcement came Wednesday morning.
 
Last season, Gallop topped the conference with 58 solo tackles (89 total) while earning multiple postseason honors, including All-MEAC First Team, Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Defensive Team and BOXTOROW HBCU All-American honors.
 
On Oct. 17, he won Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week after racking up a season-best 16 total tackles (11 solos) against Harvard in the annual Truth & Service Classic (Oct. 15, 2022).
 
The All-American team consist of 98 players, representing all 13 FCS conferences from 49 different schools.
 
Coming off a share of the 2022 MEAC Championship, Howard will begin its season with a road game at Eastern Michigan (Sept. 1).
