JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 24, 2023) – Howard University men's track had five Bison compete on Day One of the NCAA East Regional but were unable to get anyone through to the next round.
Four Bison represented HU in the 110-meter hurdles, led by graduate
Dylan Beard (Baltimore). Entering with the nation's second-fastest mark (13.29), the Baltimore native fell short with a 14.04 time during prelims.
Senior
Jermanie Byrd (Miami Gardens, Fla.) had the best outing on Day One, producing 13.78, which fell just one-hundredths (0.01) of a second in making the cut.
Third-year Bison
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) closed out his junior campaign with a season-best in the short hurdles, clocking in at 13.83.
Senior
Kameron Davis (Miami) rounded out the hurdlers, recording a 14.50 in the preliminary round.
North Carolina State's Cameron Murray posted the fastest mark during prelims at 13.41.
In the 200-meter dash first round, senior
Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.) ran 21.40 in his heat, but unable to advance to Thursday's Quarterfinals.
Florida's Robert Gregory registered the best time during the 200-meter prelims at 20.09.
HU men are back in action Friday (May 26) with the 4x100 relay squad, starting at 5 p.m., followed by DMV native sophomore
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) representing Bison Nation in the triple jump at 6 p.m.
