NORFOLK, Va. (May 10, 2023) – Howard University women's track & field team remains in second place after Day Two of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships, tallying 70.5 points through eight events.
Senior thrower
Erin Hatcher (Burtonsville, Md.) highlighted the afternoon with a record-setting performance. The Maryland native won the hammer with a new meet record of 55.64 meters (182'6"), shattering the previous mark held by Florida A&M's Andrea Aaron (2017).
Graduate
Mikyla Rodgers (South Huntington, N.Y.) and fellow classmate
Symone Marsh (Hillsborough, N.J.) also competed in the event, earning second (53.99 meters) and fourth (48.58 meters), respectively.
Collectively, HU recorded 23 points in the event.
Marsh also took part in the shot put, finishing fifth overall (11.89 meters) and scoring four points for the squad.
Rookie
Ija Mumford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) placed fifth in the long jump, hopping 5.67 meters (18'7.25") and scoring four points.
Sophomore
Jasmyn Hunter (Flossmoor, Ill.) and
Leah Williams-White (Denver) also gathered points in the heptathlon, taking second (4,547) and fourth (4,455), respectively. Both Bison combined for 12 points.
On the track, Hunter was one of six Bison to reach the 100-meter hurdle final round. Joining Hunter included graduate

Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.), juniors
Kaya-Rae Dunbar (Burtonsville, Md.) and
Darci Khan (Stockbridge, Ga.) and newcomer
Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.).
Four Bison made the 100-meter dash final with AQ times: Khan; senior
De'ja Dade (DeSoto, Texas) and sophomores
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) and
Lamaria Washington (Miami).
In the 800-meter run, senior
Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) and second-year Bison
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) earned spots in the final round, producing times of 2:12.78 and 2:13.29, respectively.
Other noteworthy performance on the track included freshman
Sanaa Morris (Bermuda) advancing to the 400-meter dash final, clocking in at 56.61.
Morgan State owns the top spot (83.5 points) with one day left.
Thursday's (May 11) action will get underway at 10 a.m., with the women's pole vault and women's javelin. Running events start at 1 p.m., with the women's 4x100-meter relay and the entire day will be streamed live on ESPN+.
